Listed in the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee Mental Health Directory (2025) for the Mental Health Directory.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with 20 years of experience working in the mental health field. I am EMDR Certified and an EMDR Consultant. To support the EMDR therapy work, I also use an attachment theory focus, ego state and parts work and I also include Heart Math, which is a science-based biofeedback technology, in treatment. Also, I am Safe Sport Trained and have completed the Stanford Medicine HealthPro Advantage: Anti-doping Education for Health Professionals.
I believe in working together to create a safe, judgement free space in the therapeutic setting that is both clinical and relational. I strive to create a space for each person that honors their humanness, their story, their race, gender, identity and beliefs and how all of those have shaped their experiences and potential traumas that have come from those lived experiences.
I worked the first 10 years of my career in the community mental health setting, as a bilingual (Spanish and English) therapist, providing individual, group, couples and family therapy and working across teams; including the dual diagnosis team, adult outpatient, child and family clinic. I grew a breadth of experience during this time. After transitioning to private practice, I have continued to serve the community by offering mental health presentations at schools and churches and also working as a clinical supervisor for graduate students and new therapists seeking licensure.

I bring all this clinical experience back to a childhood passion of working in the sports community. As a former division 1 athlete who played soccer and who is married to a college athlete, I understand the heart of an athlete and the sacrifices made in the pursuit of dreams and goals. I also understand the intense demands on athletes, coaches and leaders currently.

I have worked with coaches, and athletes at many different levels during the course of my career and am excited to offer this cutting-edge treatment of EMDR Intensives to the sports world and leadership communities.
As I reflect on my life journey, I can see that becoming a therapist was in a large part due to my own sports trauma and an innate desire to seek healing. Two decades after my sports career was over, I found healing through EMDR that was life changing. I know I never fully recovered or performed to the fullest of my abilities while playing at the highest level of my career. Yet, I have come to acceptance and even gratitude because it opened up the path I now journey. I am passionate about sharing EMDR treatment so other athletes and coaches, leaders and performers may have a different outcome in their journey or find the acceptance and gratitude with their story that brings healing.
